Mi Via Waiver recipients may not be aware that Acupuncture and Asian Medicine is an allowable service that can be paid through the program. In New Mexico acupuncture is performed by licensed Doctors of Oriental Medicine (DOM).
“doctor of oriental medicine” means a person licensed as a physician to practice acupuncture and oriental medicine with the ability to practice independently, serve as a primary care provider and as necessary collaborate with other health care providers;

Developmental Disabilities Support Division
NMSAAM contributed to the July Newsletter for the Developmental Disabilities Supports Division. This newsletter goes out to all participants in the Waiver programs, in which there are 8,364 total clients, and out of that number, the total number of Mi Via participants are 3,559 as of 6/16/25.
